Joy Caviness
1934 - 2009
Joy Caviness passed away 5/7/2009 due to
Inflamatory Breast Cancer.
She was treated for 2 1/2 years at MD Anderson,
Houston.They discontinued treatment 12/31/2008 and stated that further
teatment would do more harm than good.
She went directly into Odyssey Hospice Care in
Conroe,Texas for four days to establish her medication needs.Then I kept her
at home with the help of Odyssey Home Care until she passed away.
Odyssey Hospice Is a great organization.
She would want all ladies to know that IBC is the
most aggressive type. It does not form lumps,so doesn't show up on a standard
mamogram; and self exam doesn't work because of the lack of lumps. Joy's
original gynocologist didn't know the symtoms. Ladies, be sure you find
out the symptoms.
Her Memorial was held at April Sound Church,
Montgomery, Texas. She was diagnosed with IBC sometime after the Reunion in
Philly
