MORRISSEY, Allen Michael, 94, of Tampa, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2006, at home. He was born in Yonkers, NY. He served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed by Eastern Airlines before joining the Civil Aeronautics Administration, now known as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as an air traffic controller at Midway Airport in Chicago. He later transferred to the Flight Inspection and the Flight Standards divisions, and his 33-year career with the FAA took him to New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Ft. Worth, TX, and Atlanta, GA. He retired in 1972 as the FAA’s Chief of the Evaluation Staff, Flight Standards Division, and subsequently practiced real estate in Northern Virginia. He and his wife, Evelyn, moved from Fairfax, Va., to Tampa in 1991. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Lewis of Punta Gorda, FL, and Brian of Fairfax, Va.; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
