Evelyn L. Thompson

Evelyn L. Thompson, 85, of Springfield, IL passed away on Tuesday February 27, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born in Timber Lake, SD June 21, 1921 the daughter of Lawrence L. and Minnie A. Condon Long. She married Burdette “Ben” Thompson in Timber Lake, SD on February 12, 1944. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They have visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico

Mrs. Thompson was a teacher and taught in schools in the Chicago Area and in South Dakota. She was a member of Jerome United Methodist Church, Cachet Club, Bridge Club Pinochle Club, Red Hatters, 50 year member of Eastern Star in South Dakota, Springfield Golf League, National Toothpick Holder Collector Society and volunteered as an Auditorium Usher at Sangamon State.

She is survived by her husband Burdette “Ben” Thompson; daughters Donna (husband Joe) Hrimnak of South Haven MN, Marsha (husband Emery) Stenquist of Champlin MN, Carol Veazie of Culpeper, VA and Roxan Casper of Springfield, IL; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; sister Methal Majorowicz of Rochester, MN; four sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
